Who I Am

I am a shift operator at a drinking water treatment plant in California. I hold a T-4 Water Treatment Operator certification from the California State Water Resources Control Board and an Advanced Water Treatment Operator Grade 3 (AWTO-3) certification from the CA-NV Section of the American Water Works Association. I am currently studying for my T-5. I have been working in water treatment for nine years.

My day job is running treatment processes: managing chemical dosing, monitoring water quality, maintaining equipment, responding to process upsets, and making sure the water that leaves the plant is safe. That operational perspective is what I bring to everything I write here.

Why I Write

There is a gap between the academic literature on water treatment technologies and the practical knowledge that operators and engineers need to do their jobs. Research papers are written for researchers. Vendor documentation is written to sell equipment. I write for the people who actually operate and maintain these systems.

When I research a topic like PFAS treatment or membrane filtration, I am reading the same EPA documents, peer-reviewed studies, and technical reports that consultants and regulators use. The difference is that I translate that material into language that is practical, direct, and grounded in what actually matters at the plant level. If I have not operated a technology myself, I say so. If the data is uncertain, I say that too.

What I Cover

My writing focuses on treatment technologies that are relevant to operators and engineers working in drinking water. Current topics include:

  • PFAS treatment — GAC, ion exchange, membranes, destruction technologies, and regulatory compliance
  • Membrane filtration — MF, UF, NF, RO system design, operation, and maintenance
  • Biological treatment — BAC systems, biofilm management, and optimization
  • Digital twins and AI — practical applications for process optimization, not hype
  • Disinfection — ozone, UV, chlorination, and DBP management

Every article includes references to peer-reviewed literature, EPA documents, or state regulatory sources so you can verify the information and dig deeper.

About H2oCareerPro

H2oCareerPro is a technology intelligence resource for water treatment professionals. The site provides in-depth treatment technology guides, regulatory analysis, and an AI-powered research assistant (Rivo) trained on water treatment literature.

The goal is straightforward: give water professionals access to expert-level technical content that is accurate, current, and useful. No paywalls. No fluff. Just the information you need to make better decisions about treatment technology.
